Cambria Construction in San Carlos, CA | Daly City Construction
We’re Daly City Construction, an independent Cambria fabrication and installation contractor serving San Carlos, CA, and a trusted San Carlos General Contractor. We template, cut, and set Cambria quartz countertops, islands, and vanity tops across the 94070 ZIP. The one thing that makes our Cambria work different here: we build for hillside movement. San Carlos sits where the flats meet the Santa Cruz Mountains, and slabs templated to a moving floor crack at the seams and cutouts within a year. We plan for that before the first cut.

This page covers what Cambria service actually costs in San Carlos, which models hold up on hillside homes, and how we repair or replace tops that have failed. Call (866) 505-5254 for a free estimate, or read on.
Why San Carlos Residents Choose Us for Cambria Service
Cambria is a fabricated quartz product. It doesn’t come in a box and it doesn’t get “serviced” like an appliance. It gets templated, cut, and installed by a fabricator who understands slab tolerances, edge profiles, and adhesive chemistry. That’s us. Noel Cabrera, our owner, grew up in the Westlake district of Daly City watching postwar tract homes get reframed and re-skinned. He trained in construction technology at City College of San Francisco and spent years on residential and light commercial jobs across San Mateo County. When he says we build for how a house actually moves, he means he’s seen what happens when someone doesn’t.
We’re an independent provider. We fabricate and install Cambria. We don’t speak for the brand, and we’re not manufacturer-authorized. What we are is a team that has built its Cambria practice around the slab thicknesses, edge profiles, and fabrication tolerances the product demands. That’s the same discipline that keeps a countersquare joint tight on a hillside where framing has settled for decades. For full Cambria sales & service details, that’s our brand hub page.

Common Cambria Construction Problems We Solve in San Carlos
- Ring cracks at the sink cutout. The front and back rails of a sink cutout are the thinnest points on a slab. When cabinets underneath aren’t level, the slab bridges over the low spots and every pot dropped in the sink sends stress straight to those corners. We see this constantly in early-1900s bungalows along Laurel Street and the El Camino flats, where original cabinets have settled a half inch over eighty years. We shim to the real counter plane before templating.
- Seam popping on island tops. A hillside home’s floor deflects more than a flatland home’s. When an island sits on a caisson-supported addition and the perimeter cabinets sit on the original slab-on-grade floor, the two move at different rates. The seam at the island butt-joint takes the strain. It fails visibly. We see this on the narrow private roads above Laurel Street, where additions were built in phases over decades.
- Dull spotting and mineral film. The marine layer that keeps San Carlos damp also leaves hard-water minerals on polished quartz. Homeowners grab a generic stone cleaner that leaves a film, and the surface looks permanently hazy. Cambria’s polished finish resists most staining, but it can’t escape a mineral buildup that never gets properly removed.
- Edge chipping at cooktop openings. A slab set too tight against a range or wall oven expands and contracts with heat cycles. Cambria is heat-tolerant, not heat-proof. The standard baking-zone gap gets skipped in fast remodels, and the edge eventually chips. Older San Carlos kitchens where the range is wedged between two base cabinets are the usual suspects.
- Visible adhesive lines at repaired seams. A prior fabricator used generic stone epoxy. It yellowed, or the color match was off by two shades. The fix is a clean removal, a Cambria-approved color-matched adhesive, and a seam that’s re-tooled to the original factory tolerance.
Cambria Service in San Carlos: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
On the hillside streets above Laurel Street, San Carlos permitting pushes a geotechnical report for any addition on a slope. That geotech work reshapes countertop jobs too. Cabinets get set on grade-beam-supported floors that can still move seasonally as the expansive clay underneath swells and dries. The house isn’t falling down. It’s breathing. And a Cambria slab templated flat to the old floor doesn’t breathe with it. The slab cracks at the cutouts within a year because the floor moved a quarter inch and the quartz had nowhere to go.
We template off actual cabinet and floor movement, not the drawn plan. On a recent kitchen above Laurel Street, a mid-century rancher had been added onto twice. The original slab-on-grade floor and the caisson-supported addition settled at different rates. The owner’s Cambria Brittanicca island top had popped a center seam and chipped at the sink cutout. We pulled the island top, re-leveled the cabinet run, re-templated with a proper adhesive joint allowance, and reinstalled with a fresh matched-color seam. That’s the difference between a patch that fails again and a top that sits true. This is the only Cambria page that ties hillside caisson-and-grade-beam floor movement on San Carlos slopes to the specific seam and cutout cracking we see in Cambria slabs. That’s the information you won’t find on a generic countertop page.
Cambria Models & Products We Service in San Carlos
We fabricate the full Cambria quartz portfolio for San Carlos kitchens, bathrooms, and islands, including popular Belmont Cambria service requests. Cambria Brittanicca remains the most-requested slab in Bay Area kitchens, and it’s a regular on our San Carlos jobs. Cambria Ella and Cambria Torquay are softer gray-browns we see in mid-century hillside remodels where the owner wants warmth without going full beige. Cambria Whitehall and Cambria Fairbourne are the warm neutrals we cut heavily for San Carlos bungalow refresh jobs. And Cambria Skara Brae is the larger-scale veined slab owners pick for waterfall islands, where the veining needs to wrap the edges.
On the “parts” side, what matters for a Cambria top is the engineered slab itself, the color-matched adhesive, and the correct sink and faucet cutout hardware. We specify genuine Cambria-approved fabrication consumables, not generic stone epoxy. For a chipped or cracked top, a skilled fabricator can often repair it nearly invisibly. But a slab templated against a moving San Carlos foundation gets replaced, not patched. The crack will return.

FAQs – Cambria Construction in San Carlos
No. We’re independent. We fabricate and install Cambria quartz, and we use genuine Cambria-approved adhesive and consumables, but we don’t represent the brand and don’t claim any manufacturer affiliation. That independence means we recommend the right slab for your San Carlos home, not the slab we’re pushed to sell.
Yes. Where Cambria requires specific fabrication consumables – color-matched adhesive, approved cutout hardware, the correct polishing compounds for edge profiles – we use them. The slab itself comes from Cambria’s standard distribution channels. We don’t substitute generic stone epoxy on any Cambria job.
For a standard kitchen countertop replacement, expect one to two weeks from template to set. Larger projects – a full kitchen plus an island plus a bathroom vanity – run two to four weeks. Hillside jobs above Laurel Street can add a few days if we need to re-level cabinets or address floor movement before templating. Call (866) 505-5254 for a project-specific timeline.
All of them. Brittanicca, Ella, Torquay, Whitehall, Fairbourne, Skara Brae, and the rest of the Cambria line. We also service and repair existing Cambria tops of any model, including tops installed by other fabricators. If you can tell us the model name, we’ll know the slab’s thickness and fabrication characteristics before we arrive.
Countertop installation itself doesn’t pull a building permit in San Carlos. But if your cabinets are part of a permitted addition on a slope, the project already has geotechnical sign-off, and our work has to align with that. We coordinate with your GC or your permitting documents to make sure the countertop scope doesn’t conflict with the engineering. Call (866) 505-5254 and we’ll walk through your specific situation.
